In Te Reo this term I have been learning about using vocabulary around food (Kai) and celebrations (Ngā hākari)
Here are some sentences, with english translation in brackets, that I can say confidently..
- (What do you like about your party?)
- He pai ki a koe te/ngā tīhi? Do you like cheese? Kāore, e pai ki ahau te/ngā tīhi. I don’t like cheese. Āe, he pai ki ahau te/ngā tīhi. Yes, I like cheese.

My short story
For this piece of writing I have focusing on my vocabulary and punctuation. I have been learning to :
- use a range of precise vocabulary to communicate meaning (Year ⅞)
- use all basic punctuation independently and attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses) (Year 7/8)
- The pieces of my writing that are highlighted green are where I have shown my vocabulary and punctuation goal
Music
I can describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place
Over the past 7 weeks I have been learning to describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place
I can describe these characteristics in a piece of music…
1. Form - How the song is put together
2. Timbre - sound and quality what makes the song unique
3. Rhythm - Is the sound that goes over and over again in the song and goes faster and slower in the song
4. Harmony - Notes that are played together at once Major Harmony ( A happy song ) and a Minor Harmony ( A sad song )
5. Melody - Melody is a bit that plays over and over again in different parts of the song it is also the part that gets stuck in your head
